This week in Focus Groups.....
This week, or I should say beginning last week while at my brothers house in the Great State of Delaware began the process of getting recruited for 2 more focus groups. Oddly enough I think they may be for the same subject/topic. I can't say what the topic is at the moment due to confidentiality clauses and what not, but it's not a hard hitting topic, or subject. One is a phone interview, and the other is a video diary. I'm not really liking the video diary one that starts later today. Why is that you ask? Well there's always the chance that a marketing company will be able to put a face to a name. Further more if you show up in to many studies on video you could potentially be black listed by that company, and not qualify for any other market research opportunity with them.
The Focus group live interview on the phone was done today, and was one of the easier telephone interviews I've done. No let me correct that, my track history has been that they finish earlier then expected. That could be from me keeping answers short, or maybe they just give estimates of how long the call could be. The questions were easy, quick, and gave me a reason to want to participate. I believe this form of Focus Group discussion to be one of the best ways to gauge a persons interest in something due to the fact that the participant only has to let their voice be heard, they don't have to be on camera, or in a room with a group of people. They can be more at ease on the phone, at their home, place of business, or wherever they decide to take the call. Okay so the phone call has wrapped up. What was supposed to have been a 60min conversation lasted maybe 15mins. Wow can someone sign me up for these everyday?
The second part of the day begins with me wanting the sun to come out. It's supposed to get to 70 degrees today, but I haven't seen the sun appear yet. So I open my e-mail to find out the requirements of the second study I'm apart of. As I said before I thought this may be for the same study, but from the e-mail I receive they may actually be different. In fact I now believe they are. Though past history has taught me that the same study or survey could be hosted by numerous companies for different amounts of money.I digress it's time to open the package that came in the mail today.
For the second study they have sent me a video camera that is mine to keep. A Flip Camera so to speak. I read the instructions attached to the box, and I realize I'm going to have to work for this money on this study. No worries though. I enjoy doing this type of thing, this is a day off for me, and what else is there better to do at the moment other then having a beer. I will update you on the status of this study at a later time. I think I may just be ready for that beer.
If you've been keeping tab this has been the best month that I've had on record with the combination of Surveys, and Focus Groups. No time for me to relax yet though. I still have to remember my original reason for beginning on this track, and that was to get my license back, and that time is almost at hand. I wonder what I can put on my list next?
